Anglesey School wins Construction Excellence Award

ModCell are delighted to announce that Ysgol Rhyd Y Llan, situated on the Isle of Anglesey, has won the prestiges Construction Excellence Wales Award for Sustainability 2018.

The awards ceremony was held at a glittering event hosted at the Celtic Manor Hotel in South Wales.

As the winner of the Wales Award, the school will now move forward to the National Awards to be held in November 2018

The winning team included Anglesey Council, Wynne Construction and ModCell.


The school officially opened, on the 9th of November 2017, by Kirsty Williams AM, the Cabinet Secretary for Education for the National Assembly of Wales.

The new £4.5m school benefits from the latest facilities and resources, including modern and well equipped classrooms and suitable outdoor areas for play and learning. The project has been part funded by the Welsh Government through the 21st Century Schools Programme. 

The school uses the ModCell Core straw bale panel system for all its external walls. The walls are finished in a range of surface materials. These include Rockclad Lines boards cladding, render and natural Welsh slate work.
